Overcoming the Leadership Skills Gap
Despite its importance, formal management and leadership training remains a considerable gap in the professional world. According to the CMI, a striking 82% of people in the UK become managers without any formal training, creating an epidemic of what are known as "accidental managers." This problem isn't unique to the UK; Gallup's 2025 "State of the Global Workplace" report found that less than half of the world's managers have ever received any formal training. Even among senior leaders, a significant 26% report having never received any formal training, suggesting that this skills gap extends to the highest levels of an organization.
